Pacifism

Pacifism is a cultural illusion! I understand it to be the basic ethical attitude that rejects war on principle. The endeavor to avoid and prevent armed conflict and to create conditions for lasting peace. I also understand it to mean that war can be allowed under certain circumstances in order to keep peace.

I spontaneously tried to collect motives from my life for a personal interpretation of the term. The aim was to find out whether my actual life situation corresponds to my basic ethical attitude. The choice of motifs, the arrangement, the mood in the picture, the type of photography allow conclusions to be drawn about my thoughts and actions. Reflexive photography allows for a high degree of contingency, instead of rediscovering a presupposed order with controlled methods. The photographs are the result of a subjective selection decision and are the result of a choice guided by various social norms. Each picture is therefore shaped by the habitus of the test subject. What is shown in the picture can provide information about normative, class-specific and aesthetic criteria as well as reveal patterns of perception, thought and action.
